Founders and Partners
- Roumen Nikolov, President & Executive Director
- Dr. Roumen Nikolov is an Associate Professor at Sofia University, Bulgaria,
Head of Department of Information Technologies. He has specialized in Artificial
Intelligence at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, University of
Edinburgh, UK, and in Educational Technology at University of Twente, the
Netherlands. Dr. Nikolov is a member of: the Faculty Council, Faculty of
Economics and Business Administration, Sofia University; the Management
Board, Center for European Studies, Sofia University; the International
Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 3.6 - Distance
Education (WG 3.6), the Central European Chapter of the Association for
the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE). He has participated in

).

- Ivan Stanchev, Director of International Affairs
- Prof. Dr. Stanchev is a former professor at University of Economics
- Sofia. He has been working at the University of Twente, the Netherlands,
for the past five years. He is the Executive Manager of a MSc Programme
in Educational and Training Systems Design. Prof. Stanchev is the representative
of Bulgaria at the Technical Committee 3 (TC3) of the International Federation
of Information Processing (IFIP). He is also a member of the IFIP Working
Group 3.6 - Distance Education (WG 3.6), and Working Group 3.3 - Educational
Research. He has a long record of participation in European projects, including
a number of projects in Educational Technology, Multimedia, Human-Computer
Interaction, Distance Education and Telematics with participation of countries
from Central and Eastern Europe (see also URL:http://www.to.utwente.nl/user/ism/stanchev/personal.htm).

- Vesselin Spiridonov, Trade Director
- Mr. Vesselin Spiridonov used to be the director of the biggest (in
the past) software development institute in Bulgaria - INTERPROGRAMMA.
He is a former senior programmer at the UN Headquarter, the USA, the former
executive director of BARIMEX Ltd, Sofia, and a former member (in the period
1980-1990) of the Working Group of Software Engineering to the COMECON
Council for Computer Technologies. He has great experience in IT businesses
and consultancy, finance, legal issues, project management and administration.

All partners have already built a huge network of professional and business
relations, including ones in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe,
that can serve for further extension of the activities of VirTech both
locally and internationally.
VirTech Staff
VirTech has permanent staff of 9 employees and more than 50 contract
based collaborators from Sofia University, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
and businesses.
